LONDON, 2 March 2023 – GlobalReach Technology has joined the Railway Industry Association (RIA) to help support train operating companies and railway stations, as they improve the rail passenger Wi-Fi experience.
The 2021 BAI Communications Connectivity Outlook Report found that continuous connectivity was a priority for passengers. Millions of passengers daily depend on fast, reliable, and secure connectivity to work, communicate and manage delays during their journey. Rail companies are prioritising station Wi-Fi services, to support passengers, employees and emergency services.
Through superfast Wi-Fi projects with Telent at 19 of the largest Network Rail stations, and for Transport for London Underground at tube stations, GlobalReach has a specialty in passenger connectivity, providing captive portal and large-scale user authentication from its cloud-based Wi-Fi management platform. It is also working on two new major rail projects in the UK.
RIA is the national trade association for UK-based suppliers to the railway industry, with over 320 member companies. It supports the delivery of a bigger and better rail industry and has a specialist focus on rail innovation, technology and rail research.
