Wireless Broadband Alliance Awards Winner 2019

GlobalReach Technology CISO Recognised for WBA Industry Project Leadership

On Tuesday, the Wireless Broadband Alliance Leadership Awards were awarded to honour the companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to WBA projects and activities over the past 12 months.

This year’s winners come from a broad range of organisations (operators, vendors, ecosystem brokers) from around the world, reinforcing WBA’s mantra of uniting the global wireless ecosystem.

Through their significant efforts and ability to motivate peers, the WBA has been able to observe unprecedented progress across all work areas.

GlobalReach Technology’s Chris Spencer was recognised in this year’s Project Leadership category for his 2019 contributions to:

  • Captive Network Portal Standards for Wi-Fi Project Co-Leader with the successful delivery of Captive Network Portal Standards and Devices Behaviour GitHub Repository
  • NGH Provisioning Standardisation & Trial Project Co-Leader
  • Testing & Interoperability Contributor
  • In-Flight Connectivity Contributor

Chris Spencer has contributed to the definition of the industry standards for Passpoint Wi-Fi and OpenRoaming and co-written industry white papers. GlobalReach was formerly a board member of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), and its Connected Cities Advisory Board. The association regularly consults with GlobalReach as a subject matter expert to define secure authentication solutions for its projects and chooses our technology to support initiatives like the City Roaming Project, World Wi-Fi Day, and for delegates at its international congress. The WBA has used the GlobalReach Passpoint OSU for delegate Wi-Fi authentication at many of its conferences.
