LONDON, 27 February 2023 – The Seamless Air Alliance (SAA), which continues to lead the development and implementation of global standards for inflight connectivity (IFC) has appointed Thomas Locke, GlobalReach Technology’s Chief Technology Officer, to its Board.
GlobalReach has been a member of the alliance since 2019. It supports its goal of creating a smooth, positive internet user experience while significantly reducing costs for all parties. The company has participated in several working groups, culminating in the publication of the Inflight Connectivity (IFC) Analysis Toolkit in June of 2022. Thomas has previously chaired the Networking Group.
GlobalReach provides high-quality wireless ISP services and solutions for the largest operators, brands, venues and places. This includes satellite service providers in the aviation industry, who use its services to connect passengers on a number of major international airlines. The company also delivers expert connectivity via satellite service providers to maritime vessels.
The Seamless Air Alliance was founded by Airbus, Delta, OneWeb, Sprint and Airtel in 2018. It now includes the biggest names in technology, communications and aerospace from around the world.
SAA produced the world’s first inflight connectivity standard. It is working to empower airlines to build agnostic systems that connect to a marketplace of providers for inflight connectivity technology and services.
The Seamless Air Alliance and GSMA have recently announced a collaboration to bring seamless mobile roaming onboard commercial airlines, making it easier than ever for passengers to stay connected in the sky.
